Former Argentine national team player, Juan Pablo Sorín, was very candid when talking about the World Cup in Brazil this coming summer.

"This World Cup is going to be a South American World Cup, a very imperfect one," said the former River Plate and Cruzeiro man while at the announcement for the Copa América in 2016 in Miami.

"The stadiums right now are under the gun, in terms of deadlines. The same thing with several airports and traffic," he added. "At the same time I believe it will be a spectacular tournament on the pitch."

Sorín talks about this from a very personal standpoint as he currently resides in Brazil as he is a pundit and color commentator for ESPN Brasil. He also mentioned the significance of the World Cup to many people.

"It will be tremendous from a party perspective because of what football means in that country, because of how the game is felt here," said the former FC Barcelona left back. "I come from a country that feels it the same (Argentina). I lived it everyday where I come from and live it everyday in a country where I am a foreigner and has welcomed me so greatly, like Brazil. In Brazil you breathe football."

When asked about violence and other things that the foreign media have harped on for the past few years, Sorín came out in a very candid manner and showed a refreshing perspective as to what the current state of affairs in his adopted country are.

"I hope there is no violence. I know there will be protests and I think that is fine. You shouldn't hide what a country feels."

In short, Sorín talked about the World Cup in very open terms and surely looks forward to the spectacle that it will offer on the pitch due to the players that will grace the pitch in the various stadiums throughout the South American nation as well as the tactics that will be implemented by all throughout the tournament.
