Sophie Reiser scores two to lead Sounders Women past LA Strikers

Sophie Reiser scored goals in the 26th and 75th minutes to lead the Seattle Sounders Women to a 2:1 victory over the Los Angeles Strikers on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Starfire Sports Stadium on June 12th.

Despite being out-shot by LA 11-4 the Sounders never trailed in the match. The Strikers drew level with Seattle on a goal from Amy Chapman in the 56th minute of play.

Sounders' goalkeeper Liz Ruiz was kept busy by LA and ended up being credited with five saves.

It was the seventh match of the season for Seattle, who gained their second win and now have seven standings points. The Sounders' other win was also over the Strikers, by the same 2:1 score, earlier in the season in Pasadena.

Even though Seattle are off to a slower than hoped for start they know that better times are ahead. The Women will host the 2011 W-League Championship at Starfire at the end of July. The host club gets an automatic berth into the semifinals.

The Sounders are off to Colorado next for matches on June 17 against the Rush and June 19 against the Force. Seattle hosts the Pali Blues at 3 PM on June 26 at Starfire in their next home match.
