'One Tree Hill' star Sophia Bush was all smiles for cameras at this summer's CBS/CW/Showtime Televisions Critics Association party and for good reason; she was there to promote the seventh season of the show that launched her career. Bush attended the event at the Huntington Library in Pasadena, Calif. with co-star Austin Nichols, who has just been promoted to a series regular after appearing in the show's sixth season, and Tree Hill's newest residents Robert Buckley and Shantel Vansanten.
Buckley and VanSanten were brought in to fill the voids left by the departures of Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton. Murray and Burton made their final appearance on ‘One Tree Hill’ during its’ sixth season finale on May 18.
Bush says that the loss of characters has given the show a chance to reinvent itself. “We closed a very large chapter of the novel that has been our show and we’re opening a new one”.
The new chapter will feature a 14-month time jump and give each of the show’s core originals a new sidekick. Robert Buckley will play Clayton, the NBA sports-agent to Nathan(James Lafferty), Shantel VanSanten will star as Quinn, the latest member of Haley’s(Bethany Joy Gaoletti) family to stir up drama, and Brooke(Sophia Bush) will have Alex played by Jana Kramer as the new model of her clothing line.
Bush told KorbiTv at the TCA event that working with her new castmates instead of Murray and Burton is anything but weird. "...it's different, but it doesn't feel strange. Actually, it feels pretty amazing to go to work everyday and we're so lucky to have these new members and everybody else is still around, " said Bush. "It's a full house and everybody is laughing on set all day and the energy is really incredible".
Incredible is obvious for the new season as Bush says she looks forward to what’s in store for her character on the newly revised ‘One Tree Hill’. “It’s really exciting for Brooke this year, with her business [and] her relationship with Julian (Austin Nichols), Brooke and her mother had a beautiful ending to their story last year, and I’m really excited to explore that as well with Daphne [Zuniga]. It’s going to be really good.”
Catch Sophia Bush along with the fresh faces to ‘One Tree Hill’ when it premieres September 14 on the CW.

so clearly she doesnt miss chad or hilarie at all
LOL That's what I got from this, too.
lol
That's great, Hilarie and Chad were never well liked by the other cast or the crew. Well I suppose little Billy likes his big sister who got him the job.
Why would she miss them? Chad cheated on her while they were married and with him and Hilarie gone she is now the star of the show. She's overjoyed. This new version of OTH will prob get canceled mid-season.
I can't stand sophia bush. She's a bad actress.
I like Sophia Bush, I love her character, but the show is not the same without Lucas and Peyton. The show was originated with Lucas as the main character. How can you take the main character off? I think if the creators want to keep the fan base they need to find a way to get them back.
i loveee sophia bush. she is my favorite actor. but i think it was a bad choice to take off chad and hilarie. i have been just waiting for them to say the show is over cuz it hasnt been good lately but i still watch it hoping it will get better!
