Oklahoma proved to be too much for Tulsa.
Trey Watts scored the first touchdown with a 2-yard run, which drew the Golden Hurricane (1-2) to within 10-7.
But the Sooners (3-0) took off from there. They scored 24 points before the Golden Hurricane would score again. Tulsa dished out a pair of field goals (26, 21 yards) to draw to within 34-13 with 4:46 left in the third quarter.
Ja’Terian Douglas ran a TD in for six yards to bring Tulsa to within 37-20 with 11:59 left.
But OU, with all its weapons, got in two more TDs to put the game away.
Watts finished the game with 231 all-purpose yards. He led the team in rushing with 60 yards and also caught five passes for 65 yards.
Jordan James was the top receiver with 100 yards on six receptions.
Cody Green threw for 226 yards on 17 completions for 33 attempts.
Blake Bell led Oklahoma in its passing attack with four touchdowns and 413 yards on 27-of-37 attempts. Sterling Shepard was the Sooners’ top receiver with eight catches for 123 yards and two TDs. Roy Finch led in rushing with 68 yards on eight carries.
