Spoilers ahead for those who have not watched the season finale of True Blood!
Some consider themselves fangbangers, some consider themselves furbangers. For the latter, last night's episode of True Blood was a welcomed surprise when we saw who Sookie ended up with six months down the line.
Many have been rooting for the Sookie/Alcide hookup since he burst onto the screen back in season three. There has always been a sexual tension between the two, but the timing was never right for either of them. Throw into the mix some jealous vampire suitors and it made their potential relationship seem grim.
But, after we saw Eric Northman go up in flames on a Swedish mountaintop and Bill Compton's new career as a vampire author (as opposed to that weird Billith thing he had going on), it opened the door for Alcide Herveaux. Sookie liked the company of vampires since she couldn't hear their thoughts, but it was next to impossible to live a normal life with them. Drama seems to follow the undead. Life with a werewolf could be the closest thing to a normal relationship she can have since they're not clear broadcasters for the telepath.
However, one would notice Sookie longingly watching Bill on TV as he promoted his new book. Was it that she was just happy to see him doing well (and not naked and covered in blood a la Billith)? I couldn't help but wonder if there is a piece of her that misses him, no matter how disconnected she may behave.
What do you think, readers? Are you happy to see Sookie and Alcide finally together? Or do you think it is a mismatch?
