Sony teases announcement for Feb. 20, possible PS4 reveal

Sony launched a teaser site and video Thursday for a "Playstation Meeting 2013" event on Feb. 20. While details on what will be revealed are not yet known, the site and video invites people to "See the Future" hinting at a possible Playstation 4 unveiling.

A Sony executive previously hinted that it would make a Playstation 4 announcement prior to E3 in June but set the date for as early as May. Meanwhile, the February issue of Game Informer suggested that both Sony and Microsoft could have Apple-style reveal events for their next-gen consoles in March. A late February announcement would obviously trump all of this and build buzz through the next couple of months into a full E3 reveal.

Another curious aspect to a possible PS4 announcement in February is that Sony CEO Kaz Hirai said it would let Microsoft make the first move in the next-gen console war. Whether this was referring to an announcement of the console or the retail release is unknown.

Of course, this "See the Future" event could just be an announcement for all the Playstation 3 and PS Vita games that will be released in 2013. We'll keep you updated on what we hear.
