Sony reveals the first Magnus Bane image

Perhaps the character that fans have wanted see the most during this “Week of Mortal Love” is the high warlock Magnus Bane. The beloved character was the only character not shown at all in the first ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ trailer.

Magnus Bane is played by actor/model Godfrey Gao, who has gotten many compliments on his Magnus looks including from author Cassandra Clare herself. This once just minor character has long won over the fans so much he’s getting his own story spinoff, ‘The Bane Chronicles.’ ‘The Bane Chronicles’ will be written by Sarah Rees Brennan (Unspoken, Team Human) and Maureen Johnson (The Name of the Star, 13 Little Blue Envelopes.) The first story will be released this April. However, Clare promises to give an exclusive snippet from ‘The Bane Chronicles’ to all fans who donate to The Trevor Project.

Once clues revealed a perfectly manicured hand holding a drink, the celebration began early as fans counted down to the official reveal of the image by getting #MagnusBane to trend. Clues included, “Love always finds a way,” and “Come in and try not to murder any of my guests.”

The Valentine’s Day tag for Magnus is, "Our love is Magnificent." Perhaps the reason it has taken longer to see an image of the warlock is because of the special treatment the studio paid his eyes. Magnus' eyes are described as being "cat like" in Clare's 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.' The initial response to Bane's image was definitely positive!

The #ShareMortalLove continues tomorrow as Sony Pictures shares another exclusive image in celebration of Valentine’s Day. It has long been expected by fans to get an image of Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the holiday however, fans have yet to get a new image of Lily Collins as Clary during this countdown Be sure to. @MortalMovie and the official Facebook site as “ShareMortalLove comes to an end.

So far fans have been treated to images of Simon Lewis (Robert Sheehan,) Isabelle Lightwood (Jemima West) Alec Lightwood (Kevin Zegers,) and Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower.) As fans tweet #ShareMortalLove, clues are released in anticipation to the images release.
