The Sony PlayStation 4 is coming this Wednesday with new technologies that will allow the user to stream high end video games from the cloud to their PlayStation 4. This was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, Feb 15. 2013.
This technology will debut this week at a big New York event along with the Sony PlayStation 4 console. It should be noted that at first, the new PlayStation 4 will only stream PlayStation 3 video games. The PlayStation 4 games will still be purchased and played on Blu-Ray discs for the time being, as Sony eventually moves toward one hundred percent cloud gaming.
Sony was able to add this new streaming technology when they purchased the company Gaikai Inc for $380 million dollars in 2013. Currently, there are a few companies that offer simple games to stream without high end graphics. Gaikai was one of a few companies that was able to stream high end graphical video games direct from the cloud without a computer or gaming console.
According to sources that have been seen and briefed on the PlayStation 4, another prime feature that may be revealed for the PlayStation 4:
The action may be controlled with higher fidelity camera for its "Move" motion sensing technology and touch sensing pads on the systems new controllers."
The streaming technology for the PlayStation 4 will be its hottest talking point when the console is officially released by Sony. For the near future, gaming industry executives are expecting Cloud Gaming to be become an integral part of the gaming market. Cloud Gaming will keep costs of games more affordable for customers and allow users to play high end games on their smartphone devices.
