Sony PlayStation 4 a Non-Event for These Stocks

Sony shares began their steady climb since late-last year. Investors anticipated a PS4 announcement ahead of time. When the PS4 console was a no-show, shares of Sony and the suppliers sold-off.
Fitch, a ratings agency, does not think PS4 will help improve cash flow. Competition is already heavy for Sony on all fronts, including the PC segment, smartphones, and tablets. This limits the potential for Sony.

Advanced Micro Devices will benefit from the PS4 release, even though investors are bearish on the company. The chip maker will supply the graphics processor and chip. AMD’s Radeon GPU will have 18 “compute units.” Equipped with a blue ray player, the PS4 will have 8GB memory, HDMI-out, and the CPU will be 8-core.

Sony traded recently at $14.07. AMD traded at $2.59.
