Sony's optimism regarding the Playstation 4 was on display Wednesday night during a Tokyo Game Show keynote address as President Andrew House predicted how much the next-gen console will sell worldwide in the first five months on the market.
The PS4 is expected to sell five million units by the end of Sony's fiscal year on March 31, 2014 according to House. Pre-orders for the next-gen console have already surpassed those of the PS3 and and Sony previously stated that production is just keeping up with demand while also trying to hold some units back for launch.
By comparison, Sony initially predicted that the Playstation 3 would sell six million units in 2007 but the high $600 price of the console left overall sales at only 3.6 million. However, the perception of Sony among gamers could not be higher this time around and the price of the PS4 is much more favorable at $400.
The PS4 launches on Nov. 15.
