On Feb. 25, the list of developers committed to creating new titles for the PlayStation 4 was significantly reduced, removing a slew of European studios named just last week.
The original list of 53 developers was released at the Future of PlayStation event, shortly after the console’s official announcement and had included big names such as Bethesda, Disney, Namco Bandai, and countless others.
A spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe (SCEE) has informed Joystiq the initial listing was incorrect. A number of big name companies have been removed, including Mojang, Rovio, and Frozenbyte.
However, new studios have been added, most notably 2K Games, Ninja Theory, and CD Projekt, who confirmed The Witcher 3 is coming to the PlayStation 4. Many of the removed studios haven’t ruled out supporting the new console, and have stated that either have nothing in development or haven’t decided on anything yet.
Below is the new, revised list of studios supporting Sony’s next-generation console. Please note there is a possibility some supporting studios may have had their names removed to prevent informal and premature project announcements:
- Avalanche Studios
- Blitz Games Interactive
- Bohemia Interactive
