There have been a number of questions surrounding how the flow of content will work with PlayStation Plus for subscribers and what they'll be able to keep if they do not resubscribe to the service after their one year membership expires. Though the service has been detailed in great measures, what people will keep and lose hasn't been made all that clear. Finally, a clear and concise answer has been given to this issue.
Sony's Jeff Rubenstein has clarified everything with the following statement on the official PlayStation blog: "Free add-ons expire if your subscription ends.
Add-ons you pay for (even if you pay at a discount) are yours to keep for good. The same thing is true for games- free ones expire if you don’t renew your subscription. Anything you pay for – even at a discount – is yours forever.Themes and avatars that are free, stay free for good.
There may be instances where a downloadable game is free and the add-on is priced at a discount. In this case, if your subscription ends, you would still have access to the DLC, but would need to re-purchase the game in order to use the add-on."
Anything you buy at a discounted price will be yours forever, while anything that Sony gave to you for free while a 'Plus' member will be taken away. Are you a PlayStation Plus subscriber and do you feel the service has been a worthwhile investment?

I bought Plus on day one. Thus far, I am satisfied. Although most of the stuff that is being discounted, I would have never bought, or things that Plus is now discounting or giving for free, I bought prior to plus. But hey, I get a cool logo next to my PSN name lol. Its only $50 a year, people can find things that Plus offers them that actually save them money in the long run. So I love it
So far psn+ has not been worth it but that will change next month.

With PSN Plus, members can always reactivate their PLUS account to get back ALL the ( as you put it ) FREE content. So it’s not lost, it’s just you need to be a PLUS member to use the content.

So in all fairness if members buy a lot from PSN for their kids, or themselves for that matter the PLUS membership will save them money.
With XBL the same thing happens about content being taken away from Gold members turning to Silver memberships.
HERES WHY.
You have to be a GOLD member to play online. If you don’t pay this Fee you CANNOT play online let alone ANY BOUGHT CONTENT FROM XBL IF ONLINE IS REQUIRED, an example would be the MW2 MAP-PACKS, and the chance to play MW2 online.
So where PSN is still FREE TO PLAY ONLINE, all bought content will not be effected, unlike XBL service. So XBL is worse than PSN and their PLUS service is it not.
I am a first day Playstation Plus (PP) subscriber there is no such thing as a PSN gold accounts.
I do not advise people one way or the other on the value of PP.Everyone that can log onto the PSN store can view the PP content and decide for themselves the value of it. In fact all my PSN friends that ask the....... is it worth it question and I tell them just that, to log on and look for themselves.
I've never purchased Wipeout HD so that was the deciding factor for me.
So far, it has not been worth it at all for me. I don't care about themes or avatars, I don't like the idea of renting games (which is basically what the free games come down to imo) and the sales have been on things I wouldn't touch in the first place and usually with discounts around single digit percentages. That's just ridiculous. I wouldn't buy a Barbie game if it came with 6% discount. Same thing with dlc for games I don't own or want.

You guys need to know lots of things and since most of you are average consumers and average gamers you just believe what your fellow fans say...
XBL has WORSE online. Why? PSN has more games with dedicated servers which means more players can play and there is less lag.
XBL costs money just to play online and buy things or even to access your netflix subscription that you already pay for.
PSN is completely free and gives you permission to play online, buy things, use netflix, etc. and it offers PSN+ which if you pay for you get tons of content that is free for PSN+ members and you get discounts(so what if they are small, XBL does not have them and XBL games are generally priced higher anyways).
"Wake up" and take in the facts. XBL is a ripoff and offers exactly what PSN offers with the exception of a few SMALL features. PSN+ is the same cost of XBL every year EXCEPT you get FREE content, discounts, etc. EVERY month of your subscription.
I got Playstation Plus. I think it's well worth it for the price. I figure I've gotten about $20-30 of value out of it so far. I've bought several games at a discount and downloaded several of the themes. So far so good

You're spouting at the mouth, with things that are blatantly wrong. First, XBL is well known to have less lag than both the PS3 and Wii online counterpart. Anyone who uses two or all three of the services can concur, at least by a few examples, if not across the board.
Second, XBL offers WEEKLY discounted games, avatar items, and downloadable content packs. So to say XBL doesn't give discounts..is completely false.
How is PSN better really? I see a complete gimmick when I read the check list for PSN+ members. Wow, free games, as long as you dish out the 50 a year. That seems like nothing more than a money pit. Be careful buying discounted DLC though, because if it's for a game that was free, you'll have to rebuy the game if you stop paying for PSN.
But arguing that ones better than the other is obviously best voiced by how many members are joined to each, and unless a third world country signed up for PSN+ last week, I do believe XBL has a lot more members.
What's the $50 for. If you get to game online for free and the only added value is things you don't own and some discounts. What's the point. A Gold membership gives you discounts. All of the Borderland DLC is only $5 this week. You don't lose that DLC if you go back to Silver. And from time to MS gives users a game. You never lose those games or any other item given to you. It was a gift. I usually pay around $33 for Live. The discounts easily cover that over the course of the year.
Not worth it in the least, don't purchase this if your thinking of doing so.

The reason PSN+ is getting all this flak is because it was free to begin with and they said it would always be free. If they had started out with a subscription fee (like XBL), then very few people would have an issue with it.
For the most part, I think XBL has a better online experience and a for a few different reasons. One of my primary complaints about PSN is the lack of communication when playing a team-based game. Since the PS3 doesn't come with a mic and the Xbox does, this causes people to have to spend more money just so they can say, "Hey, watch your back!" Also, while PSN does seem to have more dedicated servers, I still prefer XBL's connectivity. I wish XBL had more dedicated servers (EA needs to get into gear, they always have issues with lag).
Really, this is just going to be fanboy vs fanboy, my system is better than yours
I have PS+ but there should be WAY more features besides auto-downloading. The discounts are OK if you want what's offered but I hope more things are added in the very near future.

Hey not to create a flame war, but that mic issue is way out of date. There are too many people with mics. The playstation service is for discounted games basically. For XBL doesn't have that. The online for the PS3 is still free for everyone. All of the services so far from Netflix to Hulu all do not need PS+ to use unlike Xbox.
My experience with XboxLive is it has some good things, but there isn't that much to actually make me pay for a 50 subscription. There is still LAG on 360, there are allot more Hackers on 360, and since everyone does have a mic you have allot more people who need to express themselves in a retarded way.
So all in all PS3 may not be better but it has too much potential that it makes it better already.

PS+ Gives you even more than that though ( Free games each month / free avatars each month / FULL game demos ( if you like you can buy them from PSN like a try before you buy )/ Early Betas appearing before XBL and normal PSN members / Upto 50% Off PSN Products / FREE MAP PACKS / ECT.

Ok, PSN IS FREE TO PLAY ONLINE that has NEVER changed, and as SONY said, it will ALWAYS be FREE for ONLINE gaming. So let me explain correctly.
PSN+ Is a premium version of their PlayStation Network service. Thats all it is ok. Optional, and NOT needed to play online UNLIKE XBL Gold.
Also just too add to the comment about Mics. The mic issue you chatted about is way out of date, IE ask all the people that play M.A.G. Ask the 256 player online lag free gamers if they use mics, or if they have lag while playing.?
