Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton said he is distraught over turning away fans and consumers wishing to buy the PlayStation 4 because of shortages created by the intense demand for the next-gen console, according to a report today from VG 24/7.
"It breaks my heart if somebody’s got $400 in their hand and they want one and we can’t sell them one,” Tretton said.
Tretton said elsewhere in the podcast that he gave up his personal PS4 unit so that Sony may sell it during the manufacturing shortage. You can read that full Examiner report by clicking here.
As for if Sony has artificially limited how many units retailers have been give in order to increase demand for the PS4, Tretton called the idea silly.
“Do you create an artificial shortage because you want there to be a feeding frenzy? No you don't," Tretton said.
