The late launch seems to be a turning point in philosophy for the company, as VG 24/7 reports today that Sony said they delayed the Japanese release to “ensure that western titles were all localized prior to the console’s release.”
Those in Japan looking to buy the PS4 will need to spend 41,979 yen, roughly $20 more than the retail price of $400 in the United States.
Sony will also be accepting pre-orders for the Japanese launch of the PS4 starting Oct. 5.
The Japan launch of the PS4 will also come with a variety of bundles, including the PlayStation 4 First Limited Pack and the PlayStation 4 Limited Pack with PlayStation Camera at 41,979 yen and 46,179 yen respectively.
Both bundles will also include 12 extra months of warranty along with the PS4 exclusive title KNACK, which gamers can download from the PlayStation Store.
