‘Sons of Anarchy’ Theo Rossi, Kim Coates on Jax-Juice, Tig-Venus Romance

Sons of Anarchy” stars Theo Rossi and Kim Coates talked about their respective roles as Juice and Tig and what’s in store for Season 7. In the TV Line interview on July 26, Rossi talked about his role in covering up Gemma’s involvement in Tara’s death, what that might mean for Theo when Jax (Charlie Hunnam) finds out and how he thinks are going to end up. Coates talked about the end of the series, the unpredictability of Sutter’s stories and the highly anticipated Venus-Tig romance.

When asked about how he feels, knowing that the show was now filming its seventh and final season, Coates said he doesn’t give it a lot of thought day to day.

“We’re in it right now. We’re in the madness, especially him {gestures towards Rossi}. I really haven’t thought about the end. But I’ll tell right now, on Oct. 27th or 28th or whenever that is, it’s gonna be one big bottle of Crown Royal for me, for sure.”

Rossi responded and confirmed the brutality of the season we’ve all been hearing about. “As you start to see the body count build up,” he said, “you start to realize you’re coming to the end.”

Theo is in the thick of things. He is complicit with Gemma because he helped cover up her involvement with Tara’s death. When asked about this “unholy alliance”, Rossi joked that Tig was forgiven for killing Donna way back when, so why couldn’t he be forgiven? Not a chance.

“It’s our hero’s wife. She was our queen in a way, even though Gemma was always kind of the queen. By Tara going, she set the stage for everything that’s going on right now. And what’s going on, it’s utter chaos in every way.” Coates added, “It’s very dark.”

On the subject of how and when Jax will kill Gemma or Juice, Coates had an interesting response. Though the show is very much based on Hamlet, that doesn’t mean it will end in a “Hamlet-esque” way, he said. Rossi agreed saying he never expected that Opie would be killed, or Clay or Tara. He said he “stopped guessing a long time ago” what might be happening next.

Will Tig be numbered in the body count this season? Coates laughs, suggesting his character should have died multiple times on the show. He doesn’t see the point in killing him off now but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

On the subject of the Venus-Tig romance, Coates had only positive things to say about his other half, Walton Goggins. “I frickin’ love Goggins He’s fantastic. He and I have been given this plum little relationship – whatever it is and for him to shave his legs and put on those breasts and come to set and seat 10 pounds off in the suits he has to wear – she – he… It’s a joy for me. So no matter what happens with Venus and Tig, it’s going to be something,” he said. “I love every minute of it.”
