Charlie Hunnam, the star of HBO’s "Sons of Anarchy" is currently braving the New York City cold as he is town for pre-production work on his new movie, “Crimson Peak.” According to International Business Times on Jan. 30, the English actor was all smiles as he took a walk in the brisk temperatures.
It was just a few days ago that Hunnam was spotted enjoying the climate in Beverly Hills, Calif. as he did a little shopping. The climate change must be quite remarkable between Beverly Hills and New York City, given the cold snap much of the country has experienced this winter.
Hunnam is currently on break between seasons of his hit show, “Sons of Anarchy.” He plays Jax Teller, the leader of a southern California motorcycle club. The upcoming season 7 will be the last for the series and Hunnam’s character will be facing great emotional trials as his wife was murdered in the season 6 finale by his own mother – the latter bit being a detail he is not yet privy to.
On playing Jax Teller, Hunnam said:
"In a nutshell, it's a dream come true, to be given a character like this. When I met Kurt and read this script, initially, I was at a really low period of my career. So, it was a really difficult time for me, and I just had this burning desire to do some of the type of work that I'd always dreamed of doing. Then, Kurt's script came along and it just blew me away."
The 33-year-old actor will begin filming “Crimson Peak” in Toronto from Feb. 10 until May 14. The movie is the story of Edith Cushing, a young author who learns her charming new husband isn’t exactly who she thought he was. The gothic romance horror film is set in Cumbria, a county in northwest England that is mountainous. It takes place in the 19th century. Tom Hiddleston who most may know as ‘Loki’ form the “Avengers” movies will play the husband. Hunnam plays a shy man desperately in love with author, played by Mia Wasikowska.
Director Guillermo del Toro said this about the movie:
"But basically what it is is a really, really, almost classical gothic romance ghost story, but then it has two or three scenes that are really, really disturbing in a very, very modern way. Very, very disturbing, it's a proper R rating. And it's adult."
“Crimson Peak” is set to release in April of 2015. “Sons of Anarchy” is due back on the smaller screen in the fall of 2014.
