Sons of Anarchy” Season 7 promises to be helluva ride and fans have less than two weeks to wait for the big final season premiere. One of the little talked about but most loved characters of the series will have an important role in it. Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie), former Charming sheriff, friend to SAMCRO and longtime admirer of Gemma will be working with the new sheriff to help solve Tara’s murder, according to International Business Times on Aug. 27. Does that mean if he’s successful, he could rat out his beloved Gemma?

Unser is the one who unknowingly incited Gemma into the action that resulted in Tara’s death. He believed Tara was the one who had ratted out the club, ultimately landing Jax in prison. Drunk and enraged, Gemma paid a visit to Tara to confront her and things got ugly – really ugly.

The moment Tara walked through the door, Gemma swung an iron at her head. When that wasn’t enough, she tried drowning Tara in the kitchen sink. Tara fought hard and Gemma resorted to using a carving fork plunged into the back of Tara’s head to kill her.

Sheriff Eli and Juice walked in and saw what happened. Gemma tried to defend herself, sating, “It had to be done. I have work to do. She did this.”

Much to Gemma’s surprise, Eli informed her and Juice that Tara was not involved in ratting out SAMCRO. Juice realized the implications and in a moment of sheer gut reaction, grabbed the sheriff’s gun and shot the man who had once been his ally. He then ushered Gemma out of there just before Jax arrived on the grisly scene and found the mutilated body of his beloved wife.

When we catch up with Unser, he isn’t feeling any great sense of loss or guilt over Tara’s death because he doesn’t know that what he said to Gemma caused it. That could change. He’s going to be helping the new sheriff work the case and that is going to make a couple of people pretty nervous – most likely Gemma and Juice.

If Gemma is worried about Unser’s detecting skills, this could be really bad news for the old fellow. We already know there isn’t anything this matriarch won’t do to protect her family …or herself. Given that she’s going to frame a rival gang for Tara’s murder, would Unser be safe if she thinks he’s a threat? Our guess is probably not.

If Unser learns of Gemma’s involvement, do you think he will rat her out? Season 7 of “Sons of Anarchy” airs Tuesday, Sept. 9 on FX.
