"I'll be appearing on an episode of my favorite show @SonsofAnarchy! Thank you so much @Harparbar & @sutterink #SOAFX," the actress tweeted while thanking Paris Barclay, a director on both "Sons of Anarchy" and "Glee," as well as "SOA" creator Kurt Sutter.
Michele will guest star on the seventh and final season of the biker drama as Gertie, "an empathetic truck stop waitress and single mother, who connects with Gemma (Katey Sagal) during a difficult time." The episode featuring the actress is slated to air on Oct. 14.
"I like to do some casting that's a little bit outside the box," Sutter said recently during the show's Television Critics Association panel, according to TV Guide. "You know, from Stephen King to David Hasselhoff — we try to do stuff that's fun."
The role comes as Michele prepares to film the shortened sixth and final season of "Glee." She follows in the footsteps of another star of a teen-oriented musical, Ashley Tisdale of "High School Musical" fame, who guest starred last season as an elite escort.
This won't be the first crossover between "Glee" and "Sons of Anarchy." Sagal, Sutter's wife and the show's matriarch, guested as Artie's (Kevin McHale) mom on "Glee."
Michele joins a roster of guest stars for Season 7 that includes rockers Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, "The Bridge" star Annabeth Gish and "Cosby Show" alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Manson will play white supremacist prison leader Ron Tully, Love will portray preschool teacher Ms. Harrison, Gish has joined the show as the new Charming sheriff, while Warner has been cast as Sticky, a member of the Grim Bastards and right-hand man to T.O. Cross (Michael Beach).
FX recently announced that Season 7 will open with a special one hour and 45 minute premiere on Sept. 9, followed by a live post-show, "Anarchy Afterwords," hosted by Chris Franjola ("Chelsea Lately"), that will also air following the show's series finale, and stream live on FXNow three other times during the season. Fans will be able to ask questions via a toll-free call-in number, as well as social media.
The seventh season will pick up 10 days after the Season 6 finale, with Jax (Charlie Hunnam) in jail on a parole violation, planning to avenge the murder of his wife Tara (Maggie Siff).
"Sons of Anarchy" Season 7 kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10/9 p.m. CT on FX.
