When season 7 of “Sons of Anarchy” returns this fall for its final season, it will have a new sheriff, a female one according to the May 18 post Christian Today. Fans remember that Sheriff Eli Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar) was killed off in the season 6 finale by Juice (Theo Rossi).
The Latin Post quoted showrunner Kurt Sutter as saying, "We're trying to avoid the new sheriff in town device because we've kinda used it." The comment was made in one of Sutter’s video updates on the series. It would seem there will be a new sheriff in town after all.
The character will be named Alice Johnson and is described as being a fir Caucasian woman in her 40s. She is "serious about her work but also boasts an edgy humor." Whether she will be pro-‘SOA” or militantly against the motorcycle club remains to be seen.
Other casting confirmations include Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller Morrow and Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller as well as many of the supporting players. Jimmy Smits will return as Nero and Peter Weller will be back as Barosky, for example.
One of SAMCRO’s allies will also be returning according to this tweet by Sutter himself: “GRIM BASTARDS on S7 of SOA. Looking forward to seeing @MikeABeach. I'm fascinated by the delicate racial balance that exists between MCs."
One of the big questions is whether or not CCH Pounder will be returning to the role of Tyne Patterson. The actress signed on for the police procedural drama series, "NCIS: New Orleans," which begins filming later this year. Her presence on ‘SOA’ is still up in the air and may result in her being able to appear in a limited amount of episodes or none at all.
Production on the final season of “Sons of Anarchy” will be getting under way soon. Scripts are being prepared well in advance of filming and the anticipated September air date has still not been revealed.
