When "Sons of Anarchy" season 6 airs, expect some episodes on certain weeks to last longer. As CarterMatt reports Aug. 16, season 5 of the show had its share of episodes that went past the 11:00 p.m. time slot. Season 6 will have at least four 90-minute episodes.
The highly popular show airs on FX, which places priority and value on creative freedom for television, as the report stated. This allows for storylines to be better told in a format best for viewing instead of "killing off characters" of the show.
Kurt Sutter, "Sons of Anarchy" creator, said the extended episodes aren't because the scripts have gotten longer. It has to do with the "unravel" of relationships on the show. Therefore, some super-sized episodes need to compensate for the content.
“A lot of the dynamics and relationship stuff take a little longer to unravel,” Sutter said. “Things just don’t happen as quickly. They’re much more complicated.”
