"Sons of Anarchy" season 7 will be when the series ends for the current day SAMCRO. HitFix.com reports Dec. 18 that creator, Kurt Sutter, has more concrete plans for a prequel to the series. This has been reported on for a while now since Sutter has mentioned investing in the project.
The "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off will most definitely center around the Vietnam War period, when the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club was forming.
Sutter told The Hollywood Reporter:
“Now that FX has expanded and they’re looking at doing standalone seasons and miniseries, I think it’s probably a lot more viable than it was a few years ago. I love the idea of doing the origin story, even if it’s a standalone 12-episode thing. I love the idea of doing a period piece. It definitely would have different energy, it would be a different kind of show, but I think the real fans would plug into it.”
The "Sons of Anarchy" creator has a planned strategy as to when he wants the prequel air.
“We would probably want to rest the mythology for a season or two, meaning that I don’t think we would end 'Sons' and begin the prequel,” Sutter said. “I think we would let it breathe for a couple years.”
If a prequel to the highly popular FX drama is put in place, there will be a lot of interest from fans. The success of it would depend on the cast and the "different energy" that Sutter stated would be on the show.
"Sons of Anarchy" season 7 will premiere September 2014.
