TV Line reported on Jan. 7 that Drea de Matteo, who plays Wendy on "Sons of Anarchy" has been upgraded to a series regular. This has mixed reactions from fans of the show. While most agree that she is a great actress, some viewers hate the character of Wendy while others feel that she deserves another chance with her son. Now that Tara is gone, will she be taking over and raising both of Jax's children? Will they end up getting involved again? What about Gemma, will Wendy begin standing up to do what is right or will she continue to allow herself to be controlled by Gemma?
Warning: If you do not want to know "Sons of Anarchy" season 7 spoilers or fan speculation, then stop reading.
The last thing viewers saw of Wendy was when Gemma was taking care of her after her drug overdose. Then she arranged for her to go to rehab. She wanted her to get sober which was a stark contrast to their "relationship" in the past. Gemma has gone back and forth between Wendy and Tara, but now Tara is permanently out of the picture.
With Tara gone for good and Drea being upgraded to series regular, viewers will be seeing more of her in "Sons of Anarchy." She will likely be getting closer to her son, Abel and in time she may even act as a mother figure to Jax's son with Tara, Thomas. But there has to be more to her storyline than just being a caretaker. Since she and Jax do have a history together, they could end up getting back together. Jax will probably view it as the most "stable" thing for the boys, them having a mother figure and a sense of family.
Then there is the issue of Gemma. Those two have never been best friends and while they may get along for a while, there will most likely come a point when tensions will rise once again.
What are your thoughts on Drea de Matteo becoming a series regular? What do you think her storyline is going to be in "Sons of Anarchy" season 7?
