As we all know, the month of October is nationally known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month is dedicated each year for everyone to come together to fight for the cure for Breast Cancer. Every October, several non-profit organizations come together to try and raise money to find the cure, as well as offer support for those who may have lost their mothers or other women in the fight against Breast Cancer, or support for those who are undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer currently.
It seems as though as each October comes around, more and more people and organizations are coming together to do more for this cause than the year before. We see more commercials on TV from banks that are willing to donate a portion of your money spent to Breast Cancer Awareness, or the big Race for the Cure they hold each year to try and raise money in downtown Phoenix, or even when you are watching football Sunday now, all of the NFL players and teams are showing their support by wearing pink. Each year, it seems as though we get that much closer to raising enough money to being one giant step closer to finding a cure, but also the support for those affected by Breast Cancer increases.
Although we are making progress, there are still many women out there who have sadly lost their battles to Breast Cancer. Everyone knows someone in his or her life that has been affected by Breast Cancer. They are our mothers. Our sisters. Our Aunts. Our Grandmothers. The neighbor across the street, your cousin, your dear friend, your old teacher--we all know someone.
There are also many sons and daughters out there that have lost their mothers to Breast Cancer.
Some sons and daughters who have lost their mothers to Breast Cancer find great comfort when the month of October comes around each year because they show their support at the races, and fundraising events to where they feel like in some ways they can help others through the tragedy that happened with their own mothers. In some ways they feel like they are helping their deceased mothers by helping out other mothers and families that are out there that are possibly going through the same experience they did. Since October is a very supportive month for all of those lives that have been touched by Breast Cancer it can be very comforting for motherless sons and daughters and their families. In other ways the month of October is when they reflect on their mother's life and mourn over her death.
The best thing we as human beings can do for one another in this lifetime, is be there for each other and comfort each other in more times than just in times of need. October may be Breast Cancer Awareness month where we remember all of the women who have lost their lives to Breast Cancer and show our support for the cause but why not be supportive all year round instead of just for the month of October?
Show support to those close to you that lost someone dear to them to the battle of Breast Cancer. Include the sons and daughters whose mothers lost their lives to Breast Cancer in family related activities with your family to make them feel a part of a mother included family again. Volunteer at the various opportunities and organizations that support Breast Cancer Awareness. Find a way to get involved all year round for this cause whether it is just being there for a motherless daughter or son, or raising money and walking in the Race for the Cure. Remember to keep supporting this cause, and to keep fighting this battle for one day soon, we will together find a cure and no more mothers will lose their lives to Breast Cancer ever again--No more sisters, aunts, cousins, teachers, grandmothers, friends, and neighbors will lose their lives. No more sons or daughters will become motherless due to Breast Cancer.
--This article is in memory to all of the women we have lost to the battle of Breast Cancer and for all of the motherless sons and daughters out there as well as anyone and everyone who may have lost a special woman in their life because of this disease. We will never forget you. --
