Sonora, California Police are actively looking for a man suspected of selling stolen guns. The man, Dean Ray Bennett, 49, is a resident of the town of Tuolumne which is about eleven miles east of Sonora, the county seat of Tuolumne County, according to The Modesto Bee on April 9.

Bennett is a convicted felon who is not allowed to purchase or posses firearms. When the home in which he was living was searched on April 3, authorities found methamphetamine and multiple firearms. Another resident at the home, Janice Edens, 58, was arrested on charges of possession of an "illegal substance." The nature of the substance was not specified.

Bennett is wanted by Sonora Police on charges of illegally possessing guns and ammunition. Bennett is said to be 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 140 pounds with dark hair and green eyes. Anyone with information pertaining to Bennett's whereabouts is asked to call the Sonora Police at (209) 532-8141.

Sonora is a small, charming town in the heart of the Mother Lode. It is rich in history and has many interesting shops and restaurants, including several antique shops. It is a major tourist attraction and is right below the snow line in the winter. It is near Columbia State Park which is a fully restored mining town of the mid nineteenth century with a blacksmith shop, a candle making store, and candy and taffy store, and an old-fashioned general store.
