The songs of John Lennon and Yoko Ono have a new home. Downtown Music Publishing Group announced Friday it has signed publishing administration agreements with Lenono Music and Ono Music, home to the song catalogs from John Lennon's solo career and the music of Yoko Ono.
Under the terms of the new agreements, which begin immediately according to the company, Downtown Music Publishing will represent all of Lennon’s solo work. The company's new holdings will include such songs as “Imagine,” “Instant Karma (We All Shine On),” “Power to the People,” “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” “Jealous Guy” and “(Just Like) Starting Over.”
The company will also handle the music of Yoko Ono spanning from her early releases on Apple Records to “Yokokimthurston,” her 2012 collaboration with members of Sonic Youth.
Company president Justin Kalifowitz said in a statement, “We are both honored and humbled to represent the iconic songs of John and Yoko. We look forward to creating new opportunities that will expand the reach of their timeless music and message.”
