According to the New York Post on Feb. 28, a Bronx man allegedly killed his mother and chopped up her body. Then he stood in front of a mirror and snapped a picture with his cellphone camera of himself holding up her severed head while smirking.
Then Bahsid McLean, 23, and a friend, William Harris, 26, stuffed his mom’s head in a bag, wrapped the rest of her mutilated body in plastic and stuffed it in bags.
They dumped the bags with body parts in several locations throughout the neighborhood.
Some of the remains of the mother, Tanya Byrd, 45, were found in one of the four bags by a father and son walking their dog.
Byrd was a home health aide and devoted mother of three.
Police said McLean killed Byrd because she “wanted him to grow up and move out and be a man.”
Detectives were disgusted by what McLean did to his own mother. There was the brutal bedroom stabbing, the blood drained in the bathroom, and the body hacked with a brand-new power saw.
An officer said:
"It’s a ghoulish act. This guy is so mentally defective to do that. That’s pretty outrageous. That’s hardcore s--t.”
McLean was charged with second-degree murder. He and Harris were charged with hindering prosecution and unlawful dissection of a human body.
Both men confessed to chopping up the body, but they blamed each other for killing Byrd.
