Son charged with murdering, dismembering, and disposing of mom in Bronx

Bahsid McLean, 23, was denied bail today in a N.Y. courtroom where he was also charged with the recent murder of his 45-year-old mother, Tania Byrd. McLean allegedly killed the mom, and with the help of a friend, cut her body into pieces with a power saw, and left garbage bags filled with body parts around his Bronx neighborhood, according to NBC.

Sources told The Huffington Post that the son took a cell phone picture of himself in front of a bathroom mirror holding up his mother’s severed head.

“He’s definitely sick,” one law-enforcement source said.

It’s a ghoulish act. This guy is so mentally defective to do that. That’s pretty outrageous. That’s hardcore s--t.”

Police say that McLean and his accomplice “cut up the body on Monday night and dumped it around 9:30 p.m.”

McLean said that his mother was already dying; and that he was just trying to help her along. Authorities didn’t have any specific information regarding the mother’s health prior to her being murdered.

McLean made several verbal outbursts throughout his court hearing today, including yelling "I didn't do anything wrong."

Although only McLean was charged with the second-degree murder of his mother, both McLean and his accomplice and friend, 26-year-old William Harris were charged with hindering prosecution and unlawful dissection of a human body.

McLean and Harris both confessed to cutting up and disposing of the mother’s body.

Both men also claim that the other actually killed Tania Byrd.

But both McLean and Harris have the same stories regarding other details, like buying the power saw and gloves at a local Bronx hardware store, cutting up the body, and wheeling garbage bags and suitcases filled with body parts in a shopping cart to put out with the trash around the neighborhood.

Authorities were alerted to Tania Byrd’s human remains from individuals dumpster diving in the neighborhood who came across the murdered mom’s body parts.

A defense attorney for Bahsid McLean said that his client hasn’t been taking his meds recently, but didn’t specify what medications that McLean had been prescribed.

Cops said McLean killed Byrd because she “wanted him to grow up and move out and be a man.”
