Dr. Oz says, "Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that causes the body to attack its own tissues. Osteoarthritis, on the other hand, tends to be caused by the wear and tear on joints over time."
Comparison of osteoarthritis, the cushioning cartilage between bones begins to shrink and wear away, causing the bones rub against each other. Generally osteo begins later in life.
With rheumatoid arthritis, it begins with feelings of fatigue, I remember being so tired I could fall asleep on my feet. achy muscles and inflammation and swelling affected the lining of my joints.
My look back made me realize that i was young, 25-30 when I began to have cramps in my feet and hands, sometimes so bad that I would have to stop walking. My family doctor attributed the cramps to too much citric acid, I had been on a "crazy grapefruit diet". I also noticed that when I ate sugar, I would experience a sugar-high. My doctor told me to avoid sugar. Inflammation. would worsen after "family birthday parties.
We made cake & homemade ice cream.....it took me awhile to correlate my achy body with sweets. Anemia was fairly constant in my youth and my doctor would tell me to eat liver. Hated it.
After several years of chiropractic care, osteopathic care and much experimentation, I use no sugar, I have substituted Organic Blue Agave syrup, have received tremendous relief with Omega 3,fatty fish oils with selenium and vitamin E to fight inflammation, they are antioxidants that protect joint linings.
I cannot say I am cured, but I have learned to manage Rheumatoid Arthritis, it is in remission and I can live a normal pain-free life.
