Just in time for April vacation week, the 2013 Cambridge Science Festival kicks off on April 12. The 10-day festival, which lasts till April 21, has something in store for curious minds of all ages.
Yuri's Night, on Friday, April 12, is a celebration of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's first manned spaceflight and the launch of NASA’s Space Shuttle. Join student astronomers from Harvard and Radcliffe to commemorate this event in the observatory at Harvard University Science Center. Among the big events ideal for the whole family is Science Carnival and Robot Zoo, scheduled for Saturday, April 13, at Cambridge Public Library. Spend the afternoon from 12 noon until 4 p.m. in an event that showcases the best of technology in robotics. Free stage performances and hands-on activities will allow children to experience firsthand how robots make lives easier. From walking robots and robotic birds to a conga line of robots, kids will no doubt be engaged. For information on even more family-friendly events and venues, visit the Cambridge Science Festival website. The complete schedule of events posted on the website will help you select activities for the family by age and interest.
In its seventh year, the Cambridge Science Festival is the first multiday celebration of its kind in this country. The founding collaborators of the festival are MIT, Harvard University, the City of Cambridge, and the Museum of Science, Boston.
