At a time when fighter and trainer should be given a little distance because of a sudden death in the family (Roach) and someone allegedly on promoter Bob Arum's payroll on the Pacquiao inside is making this his Canadian moment to make an ill-advised obvious but ignorant power play.
This happens frequently in boxing. And now it is happening to Manny Pacquiao. I'm figuring either way Manny has just three or four fights left in his career. Things will get better or worse. But they won't stay the same.
His promotional virginity is gone.
Michael Koncz doesn't strike me as that bright. So who is pulling the strings to this puppet show? I don't think even five years ago that either Arum or Con, er, Koncz thought Pacquiao would be this successful!
Promoters can't help themselves. Even if the money is rolling in and they have immediate rematch clauses if heaven forbid their money machine falters, the promoter won't take a chance. That is why they sign fighters like Timothy Bradley for the on deck circle. The promoter must divide and conquer. Isolate and insulate themselves to milk every last penny they can out of their fighter so they are not to be double - crossed by the fighter or anyone else in the food chain.
First a promoter aide is added to the camp as a consultant. Then the long-time trainer, sometimes as far back as the amateur days, is gone. Then the manager, who helped the fighter and his family for no pay get out of literal poverty, is gone.
The term used is, "He's a great guy but he has taken you as far as he can."
The weights, the belts, the training camp locations, the endorsements, sponsors, women, are just smoke to buy time, to get into the head of the fighter. The fighter feels forced to make decisions he shouldn't have to be making unless he is being controlled and doesn't know who his real friends are or who to trust.
But the fighter's ego makes him think he is smarter than he is.
It's a vicious cycle the fighter plays over and over in his head, thousands of times a day, but he puts up a good front. But it's eating him and his skills and interest up inside. Until one day he loses and by then, nobody really cares anyway.
Ultimately, the local fans and media ask the questions, but can't believe their little hometown hero is turning sour, that a bad ending is near. So they ignore the signals.
This happens to fighters, musical groups, entertainers, American politicians, etc. This happened to Mike Tyson and Donald Curry.
Good luck Manny. Make your decisions carefully because the free world is watching and now probably expecting a train wreck within a year. Guard your money from everybody, including yourself.

When PACQUIAO loses to COTTO, I will never be PACQUIAOs fan anymore because he is dumb as his promoters!!!! COACHES always knows the best for their fighters. Right now, I am a BIG FAN of MARVIN "SWEET SAYONARA" SONSONA. I don't care about PACQUIAO now, because he doesnt even care of ROACH!!!!

We know Pacman can train for a fight in 8 weeks. What beats is his being silent about the issues. This happens whenever he's got a fight coming up. Is it only a hype to make the fight more interesting including not offering Freddie Roach his personal condolence. Don't forget the saying that the higher they climb, the harder they fall. Don't cry when you lose. It's all your fault, you dumb head!
Brother Freddie Roach, if you think that PACMAN will be lost his fight with COTTO due to STUBBORN, and he will not listen to you anymore due to poison advices from the beggar adviser and lawyer. Hello Matt. Nice you see it as a lot of pacfans(not pachuggers)interpret this fiasco. Foremost are those so called jerk advisers and friends circling pac right now. Manny is foremost a boxer, but to further their self-interests in ther fileld of politics and you know what. they have captivated Pac's mind with a lot of dilussional megalomanic grandeurs....and so that is where all the issue begins and pac's time outside boxing goes. In fact boxing has now now become less important.
damn hell worries...8 weeks are enough..everytime he fights that is the maximum..he doesn't like to come up to over fatigue..and he proved it..did you ever see or did you have any doubt against his conditions? his stamina are so unbeleiveble,,he can fight 24 rounds in a raw..are you still doubt?
Filipinos are not pulling Manny down....Manny is pulling himself down. At some point, Manny has to start taking accountability for his own decisions and actions. Pachuggers should stop making excuses for Manny.
It is not a matter of weather Pac's previous physical condition were superb because they really were, But during those time Roach was'nt worried nor was Manny lacking the discipline and time to train, in short no excuses were given...just plain ol'e hardwork without disruptions and total focus. That schedule and its breakdown does'nt look like a pro boxer owns. That one looks like a media magnet boxers sched ala Oscar and see where Oscar went now. Fpr {ac to attain even further greatnest or at least sustain where he is right now he should stay focuses and dedicated to boxing and not get distracted and fraction all up his other times to dillusional commitments that may cause his downfall. Nobody in Pacland wants Pac to lose. Except that he's not getting 100% confidence from his legions here and why is that? Overconfidence? Promoters, Managers, Trainers and even Fans think they own Manny and he must act according to what they want or else... I want to remind everyone that Manny opened the eyes of the world that Filipinos is a force to reckon with. Manny made us proud as Filipinos and inspired our boxers. Manny opened the door to our next generation champions and promoters are now putting their money on Filipino boxers. If in case he loses to Cotto, well I think he has done his role. We should not judge him and hate him. Let him live his life the way he wants it. Roberto Duran and Felix Trinidad were still loved by their own people even though they suffered heavy loses. even i've been doing a lot of shows these past few days, i've never abused my health and 8 weeks with FR is enough. yes, there's no quarrel between me and FR and it all lies and making intrigues. for me, Baguio city is the best for me to train right now and we will end it up to WILD CARD GYM in Los Angeles.
for those who does't know,,once i start my training nobody can stop me and by 8 weeks i promised i will be with my 100% condition. I will raise again the flag of the phil and let us celebrate us a unite country under the only GOD.

all we want is for Pac to put his camp in order. no hassles, no bickerings, no powerplay in his camp. we are just sad that Pac is too concerned with his non-boxing affairs. when he gets lost and down in the canvass, he can blame nobody but himself. at least, he got a lot of money in the fight, and all from his movies and tv shows. but i tell you, he won't be that popular anymore when he will lose the way we don't expect him to be. may will hate him coz of his negligence to the things they admire on him. 99% of the filipinos are his fans in boxing, not movies or whathaveyou. if his star status in boxing fades, everything he got outside it fades too. especially when he did'nt protect the admiration of his fans- die hard or ephemeral fans.

i don't think he can resist the politicians and business contacts to visit him in baguio. manny could not just focus his training there. but i hope i'm wrong. as he said, we are not experts in making opinions about him. he knows himself. but we can just surmise what would befall upon him if he lost his focus because of non-boxing interference, or Konczist opinions railroading his interpersonal relationships within his camp. cotto is for sure 100% focus before and during the fight and 100% fit to fight coz of his enthusiasm to win this fight. does manny have the same motivation or he has already lost his former hunger for victories when he was still a budding star in boxing? we don't know but as fans, that's our fears and we can't help but anxious. as for his show business affairs, his appeal there is just because of he is currently a boxing star. all of these will be nothing when he lost his stardom in boxing. so what could be his foremost priorities? manny must know it.

manny must know he is not fit for politics. people love him in boxing but as a politician, that will just tarnish his legacy to the filipino people. coz nowadays, when you say politican, you also mean corruption. and pac can be like that when he lost his idealism because of people's demands for services. he'll be forced to provide funds just to please his people and that means connecting himself with the powerful politicians who are 99% corrupt. he'll be influenced by dirty politics even his decisions. in fact, his choice of training camp in baguio is obviously because of his political ambitions. he must have been deluded by those who benefit from his popularity. poor Pac, he is enticed to try politics just so he can continue the lifestyles of those people around him.

Pacquiao has no idea who Cotto really is while Roach knows that this fight would be Pacquiao's hardest fight to date even harder than that with Marquez. Pacquiao loses a little respect with Roach when Pacquiao's alternate plan to beat Hatton became the key to the second round distraction of Hatton. Pacquiao is the brainchild of that single punch approach that took Hatton down twice in the first round and finally KOed Hatton in the second. Pacquiao is without a doubt getting swell headed and is bound to disobey his corner when he fights against Cotto. Pacquiao got away with his disobedience and even got rewarded from it and for sure that would be his basis in trusting himself in making the decision where to train and what to do with Cotto. He is becoming overconfident and quick to dismiss Cotto as a very slow fighter. All of these have corrupted Manny's judgment more so that all of his advisers have sang the same tune that Cotto is too slow for Manny and that Cotto won't last past rd 8.

its not that we are interfering with PAC's decision to train in baguio.It doesnt matter whether PAC is training 8 wks, what we are after here is the avoidance of distraction which coach Freddie is wary of.He knows because of the experience the last time PAC trained in the Phils. Look how he performed against Barera during that time. This decision of Manny is the work of those leeches around him. If that surfaces again I am certain coach Freddie will pack his bag and this hoola baho of training will go to waste and eventually the fight of Manny will end in a loss. If that happens, his ambition in politics will go down with it.Mark it Manny.

Mr marquez handler, it is not that we dont respect Manny's decision.In the end it still his call that will prevail no matter how his fans persuade him to take Freddie's advise.Pac fans respect him to the point that they dont want their fighter as if to be feed to the lion's den by not training properly and ignoring good advise from his faithful trainer. You hit the nail right on the head. I always believed that Arum was the main reason why Donaire and Cotto split with their trainers.
Somebody's got to tell Manny that he's got what it takes to be the best champ on this planet but also someone has to let him know he is a lousy comedy actor (bad acting), corny singer (terrible diction, broken diaphragm) and possibly worse politician (no education) so that he might see the light of his true self in proper perspective. If he loses his fight with Miguel Cotto due to the strain he is putting to himself with useless activities, possibilities are: 1. The Legacy that he hopes to give to his country will be gone like a pricked balloon. 2. He might lose in the election. 3. A great number of fans will slowly slide to the camp of Marvelous Marvin Sonsona. 4. Many of his friends will no longer be in his entourage. 5. No longer newsworthy, his next fights will have lean publicity. 6. His price will plummet to less than $200,000 per fight. 7. With ill-timed investments and unplanned spending sprees, he will end up boxing even at the twilight of his career to celebrate life.
