The holiday season is here. And so is the barrage of advertising and sales. Sometimes we forget that the holidays are about appreciation, love, friendship and family. But buying presents can be an expression of love – if you take the time to think about what would genuinely delight someone you want to please.
For gardeners, presents are not always expensive. Certainly the big flashy items like machinery and electronic tools and can bring out childish glee in the biggest and toughest of gardeners. And what gardener wouldn't love a greenhouse or a built-in garden center with potting bench and storage? But you can bring a smile to the face of your favorite gardener with smaller items, too.
There are always the usual favorites of tools, plants and clothing. But even these can be more exciting if you look for something with an interesting approach. Look for some of the more unusual items like handmade clothing, tools, some of the new gadgets, or some green products new on the market. There are garden boutiques and Internet sites where you can find some of the more unusual gardening products. Some of these products don't cost a lot, and some might add a chuckle, like a beautifully wrapped order of moo poo tea!
Books are also fine gifts for gardeners. There are so many to choose from that you might want to specialize in your garden friend's favorite subject. You can also search on some of the sites by garden experts for their recommendations of the best books to buy.
Clothing and shoes for gardening can come in a wide range of styles and applications. Again, look for the unique item that fits the taste and needs of your gift recipient. Shopping for the garden lover can be a fun job, particularly if you take the less traveled paths when shopping for interesting garden items.
Some of the more interesting holiday gifts for gardeners may not come to mind if you aren't a gardener yourself, so don't be afraid to ask. And if you just want to be safe, give a gift certificate ot a favorite nursery or garden center.
