Discovering RV parks that remain open during the winter months can be a challenge. Full time RV'ers and those traveling during the cold winter months are able to find accommodations in and around Indianapolis. The RV campgrounds below are all open year round.

Indy Lakes RV campground is located on the south side of Indy outside the I-465 beltway. This large, well kept park is known for its three pay-lakes for fishing. The facilities are very nice and welcoming for any RV traveler. The park has 52 full service sites. During the months of September through April all RV's are required to have complete bath facilities as the showers are not open to RV campers, just tent campers. The daily rate of $28 is reasonable. This includes full hook-ups and free Wi-Fi for one device. Wi-Fi access for additional devices is $2.99 a day. Check the Indy Lakes website for further details and location map and directions. Weekly and monthly rates are also available for longer stays.

A little closer to downtown Indy but still outside the south side of I-465 is Lake Haven Retreat. This 22 acre park has 110 full hook-up sites with 30 and 50 amp service. This park has a stocked five acre catch and release fishing lake. Lake Haven is a compact park with a good design. Maneuverability of even the biggest rigs is easy. With a competitive rate of $29 a day this park is a good value for the winter RVer. The rate includes free Wi-Fi and complimentary cable TV. Full service restrooms and showers and laundry facilities are available. The Lake Haven website will give more details including directions and weekly and monthly rates.

A more unique winter stop for RV travelers in Indianapolis is the Tom Raper RV Campground located on the grounds of the Indiana State Fair. Tom Raper is a large RV dealer with headquarters in Richmond, Indiana. The RV sites at the fairgrounds are located on the far west side of the grounds and are used by the fair concession workers during the August run of Indiana State Fair. There are 170 back in sites. Of these, 80 offer full hook-ups and 90 have electric or water. A daily rate of $30 is charged. Full inside restrooms and showers are available to the RV camper. The fairgrounds are located about 40 blocks north of the center of downtown Indy. The campgrounds is covered by 24 hour a day security by the Fairground police. Check the State Fairgrounds website for directions and other details.
