I believe I might have mentioned this before, but if you're an Idol addict and want to remain in the know, MJ's Big Blog is the place to go. I obviously love my old stomping grounds, Americanidol.com, as well, but for obvious reasons they cannot post rumors, spoilers, etc. The secrets abound, however, on MJ's Big Blog. From what I understand, this was a young woman who started the blog a while back because of her unadulterated love of the show, and the site has since blossomed into a wealth of knowledge. The latest scoop from MJ are some fun spoilers from the upcoming David Cook/Carrie Underwood holiday special:
* David Cook performed “Lie” from his self titled album. Apparently, it’s Carrie’s favorite song on the album.
* David and Carrie dueted on the Van Halen song, “Why Can’t This Be Love”. The performance included a “wicked” guitar solo from David.
* David and Carrie did a really “awkward and dorky” skit before their duet. David thanked Carrie for “letting him come to pimp his album,” Carrie said, her producers made her invite him. LULZ!
* Songs were performed twice.
* Carrie hand-selected her guests, including, Kristin Chenoweth, Christina Applegate, Sons Of Sylvia (The Clark Brothers), Dolly Parton and Brad Paisley
* Neil Patrick Harris is the voice of Ace (Carrie’s dog) in the Ace sketch
* -Sons of Sylvia sang “Blue Christmas”
* Carrie sang a collection of 50’s songs with Kristen Chenoweth and Christina Applegate
* Carrie performed “Cowboy Casanova”, “Mama’s Song” and “Songs Like This
* Carrie’s mom makes an appearance before “Mama’s Song”. She’s carried in by two dancers and sings “Stand By Your Man” (terribly)
* Tabitha and Napoleon, from SYTYCD choreographed for Carrie, (”Songs Like This”)
* As did Tyce Diorio for “Mama’s Song”
* Carrie was dressed as Dolly in one of her skits, including “chest enhancements”
* Crying girl was in the audience
* David did a Q&A with the audience during a down time.
* Bo Bice was in the audience!
* Dolly and Brad will be taping on Friday
Okay, so, to break this down, here are some things I like from this list:
Love that David performs "Lie," and that it is Carrie's fave song.
Love Kristin Chenoweth...just love her. Loved her on the recent episode of Glee.
Love the choreography by some of the SYTYCD crew--can guarantee some great dance moves based on this knowledge. Carrie used to barely even move on stage when she was on Idol, so it will be interesting seeing her shake that moneymaker.
Could like that skit where Carrie is dressed as Dolly.
Like Bo Bice there, but why isn't he on stage as opposed to in the audience? I went to his web site today and that first song that plays is actually quite Country sounding. A Carrie/Bo duet would be awesome!
Love Neil Patrick Harris as the voice of a dog. Love, love, love him. Period.
Love the David Q & A.
And now, here are some things I don't like:
Awkward skit with Carrie and David--don't...just don't. I'm begging you. Cut. Cut. Cut.
Carrie, I'm sure your mom is great, but we don't need to see her, or hear her sing.
Like the idea of the Van Halen number, but whey aren't they doing a holiday song? It IS a holiday special, after all. I'd love to see a kickin' duet of "Drummer Boy" or even "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree". Come on!
I'm sure I'll love the collection of '50s songs by Underwood, Applegate, and Chenoweth, but again, where are the holiday songs?
I wish there were more American Idol alumni involved. Perhaps there are still additions to be made? One can only hope. Sidenote: Who are Sons of Sylvia, and why will they be on this special?
Keep the spoilers coming, MJ!

Dear dipshit.
its called a CARRIE UNDERWOOD special. Its going to have a lot of her and people she wants on it. That is why there are not others invited.
Your last two articles have just been ridiculous. Are you really this unintelligent, or just pretending? Carrie invites who she wants. It's a variety show that will have both holiday and non holiday song. Between this article and your lovely Star tabloid copy, it's getting really sad. You're also always reporting yesterdays news. Try to be on top of your subject when you write a story and copy less from other sites.
Sons of Sylvia is the band that Carrie's former violin player is now in. They also do a duet with her on her album.
Wow, I accidentally stumbled on this and I'm hoping to avoid this in the future. Who are you to tell Carrie who she should invite and what she should have on her special?? That's really lame of you to trash down things that she chose to you. Luckily in the future I have the choice of never reading your trash again
It is NOT the David Cook/Carrie Underwood special. It's the Carrie Underwood special. David is a guest of HERS just like everyone else.
I love that David and Carrie did a Van Halen duet rather than a holiday song. There were apparently holiday songs on there. That's enough. Just being a holiday special doesn't mean every darned thing has to be related to the holiday. Not everyone in this country celebrates Christmas. For those people, seeing a show that isn't saturated with Christmas is nice. There is more than enough saturation in our culture with it as it is. There are dozens of radio stations that play NOTHING but Christmas music from Thanksgiving on - most of it really crap because anything that is even remotely related to the holiday gets played, regardless of artistic value. You can't walk outside your home without being assaulted by it from before halloween. And, I would have liked to see Bo Bice, too, but the others are right - Carrie invites who she wants.
Boy, Sandy, Ho Ho Ho, you're really a grinch aren't you?
Bella, your post doesn't even make sense and I'm sure the writer doesn't care if you read this article or not, so why write that you won't be reading another article?
Amanda, thanks for the relevent information, I didn't know who they were either.
J. If you don't like the articles here, why come back?
Dumshit, my favortie name! Not much of a statment there, heh?
Don't know why people have to be such bitches, yes, I imagine all of you are females, cause you are obviously David Cook fans. If you don't like something, just "Go your own way" Hey isn't that a song?
I would love to see Carrie and Adam Lambert do a few songs together!! Now there would be a POWER COUPLE on any show!!
I can't get enough of either of them, both are so so talanted!!
My daugther could be your twin Carrie, and yes here name is Carrie!!
Wow lot of mean spirited people posting!!! Lighten-up the Holidays are coming!!! Love Carrie glad David made the guest list and Marnie it's your article and you can give your wish / don't like list
always enjoy your thoughts...
