Some free treasures can be found at the Medicare Learning Network (MLN)

Medicare Learning Network site
Medicare Learning Network site

If your medical office has not yet discovered the Medicare Learning Network or MLN you could be missing out on some very useful resources and materials, and the best part is they are available for FREE.  If you scroll down their main page you will find several links to the various parts of MLN including their products which you can have mailed to you at no cost.

The MLN products page  has links to the MLN catalog as well as web based training, preventive services information, FFS provider web pages, and MLN publications.  You can browse and search the list of publications which includes fact sheets, guides and brochures, and order printed materials almost all free of charge.

Some of the most useful publications for your office may be among those listed below.

ICD-10-CM/PCS: An Introduction Fact Sheet

The Medicare Appeals Process: Five Levels to Protect Providers, Physicians and Other Suppliers

Quick Reference: All Medicare Providers

2009 Electronic Prescribing Incentive Program Made Simple

How to Use The Medicare Coverage Database

These are just a few of the many publication available.  Most are downloadable in pdf format so you can save and print yourself.  If you prefer to receive the materials from Medicare go to their product order page and select those that you want sent to you.  Scroll down until you find a publication you want, then click on it. A window will open with a description of the item and you will see a note in red text at the bottom to login or register.  Click on register if you have never ordered products and you will be prompted to enter an email address.  Follow the remaining prompts to enter your information and complete the registration.

Once done and logged in you will return to the order page so you can select publications.  Click on the first one you want and again a window will open but this time you will see an Add to My Cart button.  Go through the list and add each item.  Just like shopping onlne you will have buttons to continue, cancel, or check out so simply follow these until you are done and logoff.  The site states items take 4 to 6 weeks for shipping but generally the time is a good bit less.  However, don't hold your breath and if needed urgently I suggest saving and printing the pages yourself.
