- Sept. 7, 1936: Buddy Holly, a major influence on the Beatles, born. The Quarrymen, with John Lennon singing lead vocals, performed his "That'll Be the Day" for their first-ever recording.
- Sept. 7, 1961: Cavern Club; Town Hall, Liverpool
- Sept. 7, 1962: Newton Dancing School, Cheshire.
- Sept. 7, 1964: Maple Leaf Gardens, Ontario, Canada.
- Sept. 7, 1967: "Blue Jay Way" recorded in seven hour session.
- Sept. 7, 1968: Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Suzy Q" charts.
- Sept. 7, 1978: Keith Moon dies at age 31.
