- Sept. 10, 1965: The Byrds begin recording "Turn, Turn, Turn."
- Sept. 10, 1966: "Last Train to Clarksville" by the Monkees charts.
- Sept. 19, 1968: Overdubbing work on "Helter Skelter."
- Sept. 10, 1996: Music journalist Ray Coleman, who wrote biographies of John Lennon ("Lennon"), Paul McCartney ("McCartney: Yesterday and Today") and Brian Epstein ("Brian Epstein: The Man Who Made the Beatles") and co-authored Gerry Marsden's autobiography "I'll Never Walk Alone," dies of cancer. Coleman was editor of the UK music paper Melody Maker during the '60s.
- Sept. 10, 2005: The Beatles "A Day in the Life" was voted the best British song of all time in a poll of music experts.
