  • July 16, 1963: The Beatles tape three "Pop Goes the Beatles" shows in London. Guest groups in the three shows included the Swinging Blue Jeans and the Hollies. In the first show, they performed "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You)", "Crying, Waiting, Hoping'," "Kansas City'/'Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!," "To Know Her Is To Love Her'," "'The Honeymoon Song"' and "Twist And Shout." For the second show: "Long Tall Sally," "Please Please Me," "She Loves You'," "'You Really Got A Hold On Me," "'I'll Get You" and "I Got A Woman." The third show featured "She Loves You" (using the version from the previous show), "Words Of Love," "Glad All Over," "I Just Don't Understand," "Devil In Her Heart" and "Slow Down." Author Mark Lewisohn notes that although they recorded 10 songs at the Feb. 11, 1963, recording session for the "Please Please Me" album, they performed 18 on this date and in less time.
