As validated by the dozens of reader comments, the crazed fan scene on the set of Remember Me sparked outrage among Twilight fans and Twilight fan sites alike.
Several sites have since started up campaigns designed to honor and respect actors as they work their craft.
As reported earlier, Let Me Sign was one of the first sites to begin a Respect Me campaign, brought on by the cab-clipping incident on the set of Remember Me. Originally signified by an image of Rob, head in his hands, and the thick red lettering that says “Respect Me,” Let Me Sign requested other sites to grab a button and spread the word to fans requesting them to leave him alone.

Fed up with gossip and rumors surrounding Rob and the cast of Twilight, Novel Novice Twilight, Twilight Equinox and Touched by Twilight started the “Twilighters for Truth” campaign. Their plight, in a nutshell, reads:
We have had enough with the tabloids spreading rumor and gossip about those involved with The Twilight Saga. And we’re even more fed-up with mainstream media picking up gossip & rumor, and running it as legitimate news stories without checking the facts. We want accuracy in reporting. We want media outlets that report the truth and check their facts! Responsible journalism!
All the sites that are part of the "Twilighters for Truth" campaign:
- • Novel Novice Twilight
- • Twilight Equinox
- • Touched by Twilight
- • BellaAndEdward.com
- • EdwardCullen.net

On July 17, Perez Hilton used his Twitter account to spill Robert Pattinson’s exact filming location, spawning an overload of fans and delaying the shooting efforts. The purely salacious incident was the final straw for Pattinson Online UK, and Project F.L.A.N.S. (Fan Leaders Against Needless Stalking) was born.
Says Pattinson Online:
Project F.L.A.N.S. is an extension of Pattinson Online. Since 2005, we’ve been the web’s top site for Robert Pattinson. In that time, we’ve become increasingly dissatisfied with how the media AND the fans have treated Rob – this project is the culmination of years of frustration and a desire to see the fans educated on how to protect Rob’s safety and sanity.
We believe that Rob should be able to…
- » walk down the street
- » film a movie
- » eat at a restaurant
- » smoke a cigarette
- » live his life
…without being accosted, mobbed, or attacked.
Help us help Rob. Become a part of the Project and become a real fan who cares about Rob’s safety.
I don't have a blog or website. How can I apply these campaigns to my daily life and talk to my teen about doing the same?
SafeandRespectful.org is a site designed for teens dedicated to teaching them how to communicate respect and set boundaries. Though the site spans to intricate levels, using the disrespect shown to Rob despite his status is a great way to spur conversation with your teen about the “Golden Rule.” Though you may not ever come in contact with a celebrity figure, these rules are a good reminder of how to treat everyone.
Respect refers to words or actions that acknowledge the feelings, choices and rights of individuals. In healthy relationships it is necessary to have respect for ourselves and respect for others. Many people think of the "Golden Rule" when defining respect: "Treat others the way you want to be treated."
Are you a respectful person? Do you follow these guidelines?
I follow the “Golden Rule,” and treat others the way I want to be treated
I try to think about how my actions may influence other people.
I believe that violence never solves problems.
I always try to treat people with courtesy.
I never deliberately ridicule, embarrass or hurt other people.Based on the answers you gave, ask yourself:
Are you as respectful as you would like to be?
What are some words or actions that show respect?
What words or actions show disrespect?
Was there ever a time when you didn't treat someone with respect? How do you think that person felt?
How does being disrespectful relate to violence or abuse?_____________________________________________________

Love it - so true!
When did being a fan and being respectful become mutually exclusive?!
As a fan who's visited set, it isn't hard to behave appropriately - if you're going, just to scream, then think... how could you work, live or even function with the kind of madness he has to deal with?!
Come home, Rob - I'll hide you safe and sound in London ;)
xxx
It has gotten so riduculous...thanks for spreading the word about these positive efforts. The poor guy.
Couldn't agree more- that is why I created this a while back
leaverobpattinsonalone.blogspot.com
Is there some reason why the women who committed battery on Mr. Pattison haven't been prosecuted for said crime? Their full-face pictures are proudly displayed, so they shouldn't be difficult to find...
Gkad to hear more people talking about this issue. At this point I am EMBARASSED to admit to liking Twilight. What has happened to the individuals working on these films isn't just rude, it's terrifying. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out. Harassing a person doesn't make you a fan, it make Rob hate you. If I was him I would have left this project along time ago.
Glad to read some sense at long last! People need to realise that the guy is just doing a JOB! How would you feel if hordes of screaming, out of control banshees turned up where you work tomorrow? Food for thought huh!
I agree, leave him alone.
When those women attacked Rob Pattinson, I telephoned Summit, which was quite surprised that they should be concerned for the safety of their star asset. The following day, Pattinson was hit by the taxicab.
From what I have gathered, given that he is now surrounded by (finally) competent bodyguards, and the way he hides from crowds as much as he is able,
I think it was TERRIFYING to him when those women jumped on him... I myself thought the next step would be a knife attack, and I have to assume that it crossed his mind, too.
and
I would not be surprised if, by now, he HATES New York.
The guy is among other things, a very good actor, and deserves respect for his ability in that profession.
I too am surprised that the women who jumped him have not been charged with assault.
Hi Kimberly!
Thanks for mention us again, we are so glad! :)
and yeah it's awesome that since we started our campaign people is reacting! True fans 1 - stalkers 0 :)
x
Kimberly Sherman - thank you for caring. I'm glad I came across this site and had a chance to read all these honest comments.
P.S. Thank you everyone for honestly caring. It does make a difference when people show respect and also understand that we all need our own space. Claudia R.
Thank you fans! I agree 110% with this. He is doing something he loves and he dousn't need to be attacked doing it. Some girls have been crossing the line. Please feel free to support and join!
So true. I find it also disrespectful when these young, out of control, screamers attend venues where Rob and the cast make appearances. They are not given the respect to shut-up and let them speak. Why attend at all! Parents, if you are in attendance with them...control your kid(s).
it isnt fair on him poor guy!! just give him a break!!!!!
PLZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
