About Art Exhibit
“Brick Objects Flying at Your Face” is a group exhibition that will take place at Fountain Art Fair during NY Armory Week. The body of work exhibited references Newark’s long and serious history with found objects. As part of a new wave in the Newark arts' community, this group of artists takes an aggressive contemporary approach to "objects", focusing primarily on the viewers interaction with the work.
The exhibition will live at Fountain Art Fair from March 8 - 10, and extend to the streets where the participating artists will confront a non-intentional audience. Exhibiting artist Hannah Craft will place objects in public spaces, challenging walk bys, asking questions about old vs. new. Documentation will be later exhibited in a follow up exhibition that will take place in Newark, home to Solo(s) Project House in the Fall of 2013.
Featured artists include Akintola Hanif, Daniel Brophy, Daniel Patrick Helmstetter, Hannah Craft, Jennifer Watson, Joe Waks, LNY and Nyugen Smith. The exhibition will be curated by SPH director Rebecca Jampol and Newark-based curator Jacqueline Cruz.

About Fountain:
Fountain Art Fair, founded in 2006 was created to leverage support for smaller independent galleries, collectives and artists who wished to gain access to a larger audience of collectors and critics. From its roots deep within the independent Williamsburg, Brooklyn art scene, Fountain has grown to represent over 60 international avant garde galleries and projects, showcasing progressive primary-market works in New York, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles.
About Solo(s) Project House:
The original Latin and Greek roots of PROJECT mean “something that comes before anything else happens“, and that is precisely what Solo(s) Project House is in a nutshell; evolving projects around a completed one. A space where gallery and studio are elbow to elbow, where the rigors of creation are coupled with the satisfaction of completion. The gallery is a sound stage upon which the house residents can imagine their months of creativity displayed from beginning to end. A true partner in the exhibit process, the artists are commissioned with a curatorial role that gives the visitor a 360 degree view of the creators vision. Far from an original white walled space, SPH is a home for experimental installations, avante-garde performance art and a myriad of media art. With an ever evolving pool of artists from various cultural and personal experiences SPH is a true melting pot of artistic expression.
SPH is located at 972 Broad St. in the arts district of downtown Newark, NJ. It is free and open to the public, wed Friday from 12 – 6pm.
