Soldiers laugh as they blow up innocent dog for fun (Petition)

Reminiscent of the story published on December 17th about a U.S. soldier beating a sheep to death with a bat, yet another video has now been discovered that depicts a group of U.S. soldiers blowing up an innocent dog for fun.

The video, which was first made public by LiveLeak, shows the innocent dog sniffing around what appears to be a bombed street in what has been said to be in Iraq.  The sounds of unseen soldiers talking quietly and telling the dog not to go the other way is ominous, since clearly they know a trap has been set for the unsuspecting dog.  The video is provided here, but be warned because it's graphic.

Once the huge explosion takes place, you can see the poor dog running and then hear the laughing in the background, as the soldiers find this to be hilarious.  It's unknown if the dog survived the explosion, but being so close to it, it's almost certain he/she was gravely injured.

Those serving in the armed forces should be setting examples for our young people to follow.  I have the utmost respect for all the brave human beings who take the uniform of the branches of the armed forces and defend freedom on foreign soil.

It's heartbreaking to see a handful of these soldiers giving the rest a bad name by doing these horrendous acts of cruelty against innocent and helpless animals.

Being married to a veteran of Vietnam/Cambodia, I know that those who fight in war zones face horrors that no one should have to see or endure.  I fully realize they have a lot of pent up anger and rage because of what they have to see and do every single day.  But torturing and killing innocent animals is not the way to vent that rage.

A petition has begun directed at the United States Department of Defense, asking that an investigation be conducted and the perpetrators of this horrible act be brought to justice.  This is a Care2 petition, which can be signed by anyone from any country.  You can access the petition here, or at the link provided below.

These individuals who continue to torture, abuse and kill innocent animals need to be found and punished, so other military personnel will think twice about committing similar acts.  A message needs to be sent to help end this once and for all.

Please consider adding your voice to this cause.  Advocates must be the voice these innocent animals don't have on their own.  We can only hope the dog survived and if injured, that some compassionate person helped to heal whatever injuries he/she had.
