The VisLab VIAC solar powered robot cars have advanced and are on their way to from Budapest, Hungary to Kiev, Ukraine now -- their entire trip extends from Milan, Italy to Shanghai, China.
For Cleveland area residents, it's great to see a solar powered car in action. Solar powered autos have not received much publicity here in our region which has traditionally relied heavily on auto industry jobs. Maybe some of our local companies can find a way to use solar power with cars to improve our future.
Attached to this article is a video showing the robotics, in a precursor auto in 2009. The car in this video is not solar powered but is robotic driven.

Clevelanders planning to visit Eastern Europe or Asia this fall may wish to stop in one or more of these cities for a live look at the solar robot cars and their entourage of engineers. They're following the ancient silk route and part of the route of the trans-Russia railroad which passes through Yekaterinburg, Omsk and Novosibirsk. They'll pass through Xian, near the home of the famous terra cotta warriors.
