Softball wins ACC; baseball takes down Miami

The Georgia Tech softball team captured the ACC championship on Sunday, defeating Florida State 8-4 in a game that saw Tech jump out to an 8-0 lead before withstanding a four-run sixth-inning rally from the Seminoles. The Jackets (48-9) have been rewarded with the #8 overall national seed, and will host an NCAA regional next weekend. Other teams in the regional include Auburn, Jacksonville State and Oregon.

Also, the 6th-ranked baseball Jackets beat No. 5 Miami 6-3 to win the weekend series. Tech (41-10) will wrap up this season’s home schedule on Tuesday, May 18 at 6 p.m. against Georgia State.
