Softball to host Matadors after positive start

The Fresno State softball team, off to a 4-1 start, will host CSU Northridge Feb. 13 as part of the Fresno State Kick-Off, which began Feb. 8 and will conclude with the double header against the Matadors.

The lone loss so far for the ‘Dogs was an extra-inning 5-3 loss to Southern Miss. The same day, Fresno State beat UC Davis and Sacramento State.

Northridge is off to a 1-4 start this season after finishing 10-42 in 2012.

The last time the two teams met, the Matadors beat the Bulldogs 9-5; however, Fresno State leads the overall series, 35-20.

Fresno State is under the leadership of first-year coach Trisha Ford, who came to Fresno after nine years at Stanford.

The double header against the Matadors will begin at 3 p.m. at Bulldog Diamond. The Bulldogs will then travel to Santa Barbara to participate in the UC Santa Barbara Tournament Feb. 15-17.
