Soft shell crab week to start soon

Crabs are starting to wake up from their winter hibernation and shed their shells all around the Chesapeake Bay. In Baltimore, 20 restaurants area celebrating the annual phenomenon with a weeklong celebration dedicated to the crustacean delicacy. This will be the fourth year in a row that restaurants around the region have grouped together for the Soft Shell Crab Celebration.

Participating restaurants this year include, but are not limited to: Aldo's, Alewife, Brewer's Art, Cinghiale, The Prime Rib, The Point in Fells, Ryleigh's Oyster, and Vino Rosina. Dishes include crab with stone ground wheat crust at Aldo's, cornmeal crusted crab at Brewer's Art, Po Boy soft shell crab at Kona Grill, and crispy cava battered crab at Pazo. Some restaurants have appetizers and breakfast items as well. Menu items may be special priced.

This year's celebration begins May 17 and ends May 28.
