Soft Paws are a wonderful, painless and inexpensive option for declawing. Kits are available at any pet store. They ca also be purchased at Spokane’s Humane Society.
They are amazingly easy to put on and so colorful and pretty too.
The first step involved is to make certain your Soft Paws are out of their package and carefully lined up according to which claw they go on. Have your glue ready as well. The more rapidly you work; the better for both you and your cat.
If someone is available to hold the cat for you, by all means, let them help you. However, if you are on your own, hold your cat on your lap. Holding your feline firmly around his/her waist but not too taut, seems to work best.
Begin to tenderly massage your cat's claws. Do this for a few seconds before pushing down gently to release your cat's claw.
Apply two to three drops of glue into the Soft Paw and then slide it on to the cat's claw.
Hold it there quietly for about ten seconds to give the glue a chance to hold. Repeat until the whole package is applied.
Should your cat become agitated or look stressed, stop right away. . You can recommence adding the rest of the Soft Paws at another time when the cat has calmed down.
It’s always fun to have a friend with a feline help out. You can take turns helping to apply the very attractive Soft Paws to each other’s cats. They come in many colors, just like nail polish!
