French wine lovers might want to plan to head over to the Sofitel Los Angeles this week as the hotel pays honor to‘vendanges’, the wine harvest that takes place in France every September. It’s a good opportunity to sample some mighty fine wines at Riviera 31 Bar or in the restaurant, where there will be exclusive wine flights and food pairings.
There will be week-long pourings of Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Cote du Rhone, and Sancerre. Other wineson the list include Domaine Dourthe Sauvignon Blanc, Louis Jadot Chablis, Cote du Rhone Parallele 45, Sancerre Pascale Jolivet and Chateau and Pey Latour Rose.
Some of the dishes paired with wines include California Oyster and Yellowtail, Petite Radish Salad, Fleur de Sel; a Crab Claw Salad with Frisée, Shaved Asparagus, Red Endive and Chive with White Wine Vinaigrette, as well as, Raviole de Royan,Crème of Garlic and Sautéed Chanterelle Mushroom. A sommelier will be on hand to help guide through the wines. Wine tastings take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and cost $6 to $9 a glass. Esterel is open from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. for wine pairing menus and special events.
