Sofia Vergara to bring the 'Heat'

Variety reported yesterday that Sofia Vergara (“Four Brothers”) is in final negotiations to join Jason Statham (“Safe”) in the upcoming remakeHeat.”

It is based off of the 1986 crime/action film starring Burt Reynolds; the new film centers on Nick Escalante (Statham), a compulsive gambler on the streets of Vegas who takes odd jobs providing “security” to support his addiction. When his friend is brutally beaten, Nick’s professional and personal lives collide as he’s forced to take on the mob (of course Statham can).

The new film will be directed by Simon West (“Con-Air”) who has had a weird track record lately from “Stolen” with Nicolas Cage to “The Expendables 2.”

It’s hard to tell whether or not this will be a serious film or if it will be a cheese-fest, but either way with the beautiful, but hard to understand, Vergara in a lead role it has to be better than that lame-ass “Parker.”
