On Modern Family, Sofia Vergara portrays Gloria and she looks gorgeous. The actress who has turned the heads of men (and women) everywhere shared that it hasn’t always been that easy for a warm Hollywood welcoming. Giving some insight on Thursday with a new interview in Health Magazine, Vergara’s journey to the United States was anything but welcoming as some people thought she wasn’t proportionated correctly to be taken serious.
Dishing on the first time she moved to America, her publicist at the time requested she get breast reduction but her mother was definitely opposed. Sharing the insight that women fuss over their personal body image, it was a hard time for Vergara to be questioning how she looked.
“When I moved to America, I was more voluptuous, and I felt a little different. And one time, years ago, I remember my publicist [former] told me, 'I think you should just reduce your boobs because nobody’s going to take you seriously here,'” Sofia Vergara told the magazine. "My mother almost had a heart attack. She was like, 'God is going to punish you! You can’t cut your boobs!' I don’t regret not doing it, because now it’s become a big part of Gloria.”
While her mother was being a little drastic, the introduction to the different culture helped Vergara understand how different the society was here compared to her previous life in Latin America. Touching on how women all have insecurities, it doesn’t matter what part of the body it is, there isn’t any doubt ladies have one section that has to learn to be loved despite the way it looks.
