Sofia Vergara is nominated for a 2013 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role in the hit television show, “Modern Family.” Vergara is up against Edie Falco (“Nurse Jackie”), Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”) and Betty White (“Hot in Cleveland”).
It is no secret that Vergara has the most predictable style on the red carpet. It’s always uber sexy, vava voom, strapless mermaid style gowns. She knows what works for her curves and embraces the designers that always make her look amazing on the red carpet.
For the SAG 2012 Awards, the star chose a gorgeous, strapless Marchesa gown that hugged every curve. She accessorized with a Thale blanc clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Vergara veered from her usual designers and bold color on the Golden Globes 2013 red carpet. She opted for a black Michael Cinco gown, requisite Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
No stranger to wardrobe disasters on the red carpet, Vergara knows anything can happen. After the star ripped her dress at the 2012 Emmy’s she now realizes how hard it is to control wardrobe issues on the red carpet.
“It's very easy [for a dress to rip] because you get out of the car, you go up, you try to go to the restroom. When you're on the red carpet, a lot of people step on your dress and pull it,” Vergara told PEOPLE recently. “After awhile, that's what causes the stitches to get loose because usually you have those long gowns. You can never really control it, but you just hope for the best.”
In spite of her angst, she is still looking forward to enjoying awards season. “It's a celebrating time,” she said. “I don't see any stress in it, because for me, the award is just going to the awards show. I never expected in my life that I was going to be part of a show like Modern Family and be nominated for anything. I'm very new to acting, so for me, it's a party.”
We can’t wait to see who Vergara dons this year. Somehow we have a feeling that the dress designer’s name may be start with a V or an M. As for jewelry, we are betting on Lorraine Schwartz.
The SAG awards will air live at 8 p.m. EST on Jan. 27 on TNT and TBS.
