Modern Family star Sofia Vergara says many women go overboard with plastic surgery and Botox and end up looking worse than before.
"L.A. is crazy, the women all look the same now," Vergara, 38, tells the September 2010 issue of Esquire.
'NOT FOOLING ANYONE'
Sofia continues: "That thing with the cheeks, like Madonna. Who do they think they're fooling? It doesn't make them look young. You end up looking like a freak."
Vergara isn't the only Hollywood starlet to speak against Botox. Recently, Julia Roberts said she won't get Botox because she wants her children to be able to see emotions on her face.
Meanwhile, brunette stunners Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox have both come under fire recently for looking too plastic-y, thanks to Botox overload. It's easy to be dismissive of plastic surgery when you're as naturally beautiful as Sofia, but she says she may get her eyes done in the future if she feels she needs it.
The voluptuous Colombian bombshell, who's a natural blonde, once considered getting breast reduction, but her mom objected, saying, "God is going to punish you if you cut them."
SOFIA TREATED FOR THRYOID CANCER
Sofia, who has a family history of diabetes, was treated for thyroid cancer in 2002 and stopped eating red meat 15 years ago.
To keep her thyroid under control, Vergara takes a thyroid hormone pill every day.
"I take a Synthroid pill every morning," she says. "It controls your body’s metabolism and gives you the levels that you need. An unregulated thyroid can lead to problems with your weight, hair loss, and other things, so they give me a blood test every three months to see where my level is. Actually, I feel very lucky. In a lot of women, the cancer isn’t found until around menopause—and by then it’s too late.
Sofia, who has an 18-year-old son, makes sure she eats well and exercises in moderation (see video).
"I'm not obsessed with working out or dieting, but I do it in moderation," she says. "As I get older, I have to work out more. I do the Tracey Anderson method and Physique 57 workouts."
The Latina beauty says she's always shocked by the huge portion sizes of American meals, stressing the importance of moderation in diet to stay slim.
"I'm obsessed with desserts, but now that I'm older I carry around lollipops in my purse," she laughs. "Eating three of these throughout the day is better than having the tiramisu I really want!"

It is unfortunite that madonna did this to her self but before anyone judges, remember you are most likely not a superstar and what would you go threw to stay looking young for your career ???????
I love how if you're a two-bit nobody, all you have to do to get in press is "slam" a somebody. Yaaaawn.
